Jack O’Shea is named Home Health Aide of the Year

Jack O’Shea of Ringoes has been a Certified Home Health Aide for Visiting Health and Supportive Services of Hunterdon Regional Community Health for the past eleven years. Mr. O’Shea was selected as the 2009 “Home Health Aide of the Year.”
“Mr. O’Shea was selected as Home Health Aide of the year because of his dedication and compassion to his clients, his commitment to his community, and his consistently positive attitude. Jack is a great person, a wonderful caregiver, and an asset to Visiting Health and Supportive Services, stated Don Pinner, Chief Operating Officer for Hunterdon Regional Community Health.
Certified Home Health Aides work with people who maybe ill, elderly and disabled in their homes providing personal care, such as bathing and dressing, meal planning and preparation, and follow-up rehabilitative exercises as instructed by the physical, occupational or speech therapist. The home health aide can also assist with medications, perform light housekeeping and run essential errands for their clients. Certified Home Health Aides are required to complete a 76-hour training course, offered through Visiting Health and Supportive Services, as mandated by the New Jersey Board of Nursing.
“I feel very humbled to receive this award because we have so many good aides. I love this job, it makes it easy to go to work knowing someone needs your help each day. This award is special to me because I know my clients appreciate my help, but to also be acknowledged by my peers is a great honor,” stated Jack O’Shea.
Visiting Health and Supportive Services is part of Hunterdon Regional Community Health which is located in Raritan Township and affiliated with Hunterdon Healthcare. Home Health Aides are essential to Visiting Health and Supportive Services. Most of the funding to support this program comes from grants and private funds.
