Marisa Losavio of Flemington received the Jefferson Award for Public Service on June 3rd at a ceremony held at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark. The Jefferson Awards were established in 1972 by the American Institute for Public Service to encourage and to honor individuals for their achievements and contributions through public and community service.

Marisa received the award because of the time she has dedicated to volunteering at Hunterdon Medical Center.  She began volunteering at Hunterdon Medical Center in April of 2005 and has donated 559 hours of service.

"Marisa dedicates her volunteer time working at our Information Desk helping visitors find their destinations and answering calls about our patients from their friends and family.  Being at the Information Desk, she is one of the first and last people that our visitors see when they come to our hospital.  Her warm smile, positive outlook, and endless compassion make her the ideal person to remind patients and visitors of the excellent care they receive when coming to the hospital," explained Lynne Danik, Director of Volunteer Services at Hunterdon Medical Center.

Marissa is a senior at Hunterdon Central Regional High School and is a member of the National Honor Society. This fall, Marissa will begin her freshman year at Seton Hall University School of Nursing.
