Adolescent Services
at Hunterdon Behavioral Health are based on the philosophy that teens are often troubled – sometimes overwhelmed – by events in their lives. Many of the problems are unique to where teens are during this dynamic time of challenge and change.
Specialized programs provided to adolescents and their families are facilitated by highly trained, compassionate professionals. Since each individual is unique, each case receives special attention by a multidisciplinary team. Specialized assessment results in a targeted plan for solutions.
Individual Psychotherapy
provides sessions aimed at helping the adolescent understand his or her problem, and working toward resolution.
Family Therapy
facilitates improved communication and cooperation within the family group.
Group Therapy
addresses issues such as
- Academic / educational challenges
- Teen issues
- Anxiety and depression
- Divorce
- Correcting maladaptive behavior
Intensive Outpatient Treatment
This intensive after-school therapeutic program is for adolescents experiencing moderate to severe problems including anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts, running away, mood swings, drug or alcohol abuse, aggressiveness, conduct disturbance and academic problems. Services include :
- Psychiatric evaluation
- Individual/family/group therapy
- Recreational/therapeutic skills
- Social learning skills
Other Youth Services Programs
School-Based: In-school case management, supportive counseling and referral
Family Crisis Intervention: Stabilizes family crises such as runaways or truancy
Youth Case Management: provides coordination of care for those at risk of institutionalization. Services include discharge planning, links to community resources and general support for families.
