Psychiatric Services
Six psychiatrists provide psychiatric and medication evaluation and treatment to children, adolescents, adults and senior adults.
Outpatient Psychological Services
helps individuals examine the ways they deal with the stressors in their lives. If stress is caused by problems in past or current life situations, stress can turn into distress, and psychological symptoms are the unfortunate result.
Hunterdon Behavioral Health offers these services to help patients reach their goals of better mental health:
Adult Psychotherapy
Many psychological problems respond well to treatment. By exploring their causes and identifying coping strategies, patients can find relief from self-defeating behaviors, conflicts or anxieties that hold them back from leading a fuller life.
These Specialized Psychological Services are also available:
- Survivors of Emotional/Physical Trauma
- Family Conflict Mediation
Child Psychotherapy
Since they are remarkably sensitive to their environment, children are especially vulnerable to psychological difficulties. Care must be taken to evaluate a child´s behavior pattern in light of their developmental history, social skills, educational experiences, and – most important – family influences.
The child therapists at Hunterdon Behavioral Health specialize in identifying and treating those problems frequently exhibited by children and adolescents. They maintain close contact with other professionals and school personnel to ensure that reinforcement and feedback are maintained.
Behavioral challenges often observed in young children include:
- Oppositional Tendencies
- Aggressive Behavior
- School Adjustment Difficulties
- Academic Underachievement
- Attention Disorders
- Sleep problems or Bedwetting
- Eating Disorders
